Doncaster Rovers defender Gareth Roberts has agreed a two-year deal with fellow Championship side Derby County.

Roberts was out of contract at the end of the season at Rovers, and he joins the Rams on a free transfer.

The 32 year old had been offered a new contract at Doncaster, but decided to make the move to the Midlands club.

The former Welsh international joined Rovers in 2006 and went on to make 158 appearances and scored 8 goals.

It is the second blow to Rovers in two days having lost out to Barnsley for the signature of Jason Shackell yesterday.
