Doncaster Rovers have signed Rob Jones after he was released from his contract by Sheffield Wednesday.

The defender who only signed for Wednesday last summer from Scunthorpe United, still had a year of his contract to run but the club agreed to terminate his contract, allowing him to join Rovers.

The experienced 32 year old has signed a two-year deal at the Keepmoat.

Jones was a regular for Wednesday last season as they finished runners-up in League One. He made 33 appearances in the league and he chipped in with four goals.

Since turning professional in 2003 as a 22 year old, he has made almost 300 appearances, including over 100 appearances with Scottish Premier League side Hibernian during three years at Easter Road.
