Doncaster Rovers midfielder John Oster is expecting the club to improve on last seasons fourteenth place finish in the coming season.

Speaking on the official website, Oster said, ‘The lads are great and this season, depending on signings and a bit of luck here and there, I think that we can do better than we did last season.”

Oster signed a new two-year deal with the club last week after enjoying a successful first season at the Keepmoat last season.

The experienced midfielder played 40 games for Rovers last season after initially signing on the eve of the new season on a short-term deal, which was extended in January until the end of the season.

The 31 year old helped Reading to promotion from the Championship in 2006 so knows what it takes to win promotion from the division.

Rovers are set to announce the club record signing of Billy Sharp this afternoon as the clubs make a statement of their ambitions of promotion this season.
