Former Doncaster Rovers assistant manager Richard O`Kelly has been named as the new manager of League Two side Hereford United.

He has signed a contract initially until the end of the season as he hopes to lead the League Two strugglers away from the relegation zone in his first job as manager.

O`Kelly was assistant manager to Sean O`Driscoll at Rovers until their dismissals towards the end of September.

The pair joined Rovers in 2006 and helped the club with the Johnstone`s Paint Trophy in their first season. The following season they led Rovers back to the second tier of English football in 50 years when they beat Leeds United in the League One play off final.

Rovers will come up against former manager Sean O`Driscoll this evening for the first time since his dismissal.

O`Driscoll is part of Steve Cotterill`s coaching staff at Nottingham Forest.
