Doncaster Rovers boss Sean O`Driscoll was happy with the performance on the opening day of the season despite going down to an injury time winner at Brighton.

Rovers looked like spoiling the Brighton party, who were celebrating moving into their new home ground. Rovers led with just seven minutes remaining, thanks to a first half strike from Billy Sharp.

Substitute Will Buckley struck twice for Brighton, the winner coming deep into injury time, with Rovers reduced to ten men after James Hayter was stretchered off in the final minute of normal time after Rovers had already using their three allocated substitutions.

O`Driscoll admitted he would have settled for a point before kick off and he was especially pleased with the first half performance.

Speaking on the BBC website , O`Driscoll said, “I`d rather give Brighton credit than berate my own players, we hung in as long as we could but give Brighton some credit for the way they played.
“I would have taken a point before the game, results are in the lap of the gods, I would have taken the performance, a lot of the performance I was pleased with and in the first half we controlled large periods of the game.’
