Doncaster Rovers defender James O`Connor says confidence is high ahead of the game at Birmingham City on Saturday.
Rovers moved off the bottom of the championship last weekend with a win over top of the table Southampton and O`Connor says the confidence in the squad is as high as it has been in a long time. Speaking on the official website, O`Connor said, “I would say confidence is as high as it has been in a long time. The performance against Southampton was excellent.”
Rovers now face a tricky test at Birmingham City on Saturday, a club who were in the Premier League just last season and won the Carling Cup.
Birmingham are currently trying to play catch up in the championship due to their involvement in the Europa League this season.
They are currently in fourteenth place but if they win their games in hand they will be just one point outside the play off places.
O`Connor is now hoping that the confidence in the squad can now be taken into the game at St Andrews on Saturday, “We will be looking to take this belief into the Birmingham game to pick up a point or hopefully all three,” he continued.
Rovers are possibly travelling to Birmingham at a good time with the blues having lost twice in the week and having won just one of their last seven games.
A win for Rovers would still see them remain in the bottom two, with them currently four points behind third bottom Nottingham Forest.
