Rovers record £300,000 summer signing Matt Mills did not suffer a broken jaw in the game against QPR on Saturday.

After receiving lengthy treatment on the pitch he was taken off and initial fears were that the jaw was broken.

It was initially reported early in the week that the jaw was broken and the influential player would be out for around a month.

The defender who spent most of last season on loan with the club could now be fighting for a place against Coventry on Saturday after the club confirmed it was only bruising.

Rovers assistant manager Richard O`Kelly told The Star “Matt did a light training session today. We`ll monitor him for the next few days, but he looks ok”

Mills has started the season in fantastic fashion with a man of the match performance in the opening day win at Derby. The performance also saw him included in the Championship team of the week.

Hopefully Mills will be able to play on Saturday when Rovers will be hoping to bounce back from last weekends defeat at QPR.
