On loan Aston Villa defender Niall Mason says he is close to joining Doncaster Rovers.
The 20-year-old has been a regular in the side during his season-long loan from Aston Villa and he has shown his versatility playing across the back four as well as in midfield.
His versatility has helped Doncaster and he has made 39 appearances this season, as they have won promotion from League Two and they are now aiming to wrap up the title in the final few weeks of the season.
Mason admits he has enjoyed his time at the Keepmoat Stadium, learning a lot from manager Darren Ferguson, and he would be silly to turn down the offer of a move to Doncaster.
“It has been brilliant. I have learnt a lot this year and I have had a good season,” Mason told BBC Radio Sheffield .
“It has been a good first season in professional football and I have improved a lot since first arriving.
“I think we are quite close to sorting something out because I think I would be silly to turn down coming here.
“The manager has been fantastic and I have a lot to thank him for. He gave me a chance, a chance to play and he is fantastic to learn from.
“I think they (Aston Villa) will be happy for me to move on.”
Doncaster are also hopeful of sorting out deals with Everton for Conor Grant and Chelsea for Jordan Houghton ahead of next season.
Doncaster agreed a deal with Everton for Grant when he joined on loan in January but the midfielder was keen to wait until the end of the season before deciding on his future.
Houghton had been an ever-present at Doncaster until a serious knee injury saw him ruled out for the season in February and return to Stamford Bridge.
