Adam Lockwood will definitely miss the rest of the season after it was confirmed that he`s ruptured ligaments in his ankle.

Former skipper Lockwood has struggled to hold down a regular first team place this season but had just managed to break his way into the starting eleven when he was injured in the final minutes of the 3-1 win at Ipswich earlier this month.

Lockwood joins an ever increasing list of players out for the season with James Coppinger, Brian Stock and James O`Connor already ruled out.

Jos Van Nieuwstadt played alongside Matt Mills in the centre of defence in place of Lockwood in Monday`s 2-0 home loss against Preston.
