Lewis Guy is hopefully going to finally win over the Rovers faithful after his man of the match performance at Derby.
Guy came under criticism from large sections of the fans during his first full season with the club but last season he started to improve and slowly win over the fans.
He was Rovers top scorer for a lot of the season before a bout of glandular fever kept him out for large sections of it.
After Saturday he’s certainly set himself a high standard to continue for the rest of the season.
Sean O’Driscoll was also very quick to single out the strikers performance on Saturday. Talking in the Doncaster star the boss said ‘Ever since we came here, we’ve banged on about what a good player he could be’
O’Driscoll said ‘he came under intense pressure and we were told by people he couldn’t finish and he couldn’t do this that or the other’
Guy, still only 22 came to Rovers initially in 2004/05 on loan before signing a full contract for the following season. He started his career at Newcastle United making one appearance with the Geordies and he’s also been capped at under 21 level for England.
Could this finally be the season for him to reach his full potential?
