Doncaster Rovers defender Niall Mason is being targeted by a number of Championship clubs according to reports.

The Sun claim that Birmingham City, Hull City, Leeds United and Sunderland are all reportedly keen to sign Mason, who joined Doncaster from Aston Villa last summer on a permanent deal after a successful season on loan at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Mason played a pivotal part in helping Doncaster win promotion from League Two last season after joining on a season-long loan from Villa Park.

The 21-year-old made 42 appearances during the promotion season, showing his versatility, playing across the back four as well as in midfield.

Doncaster moved to make the move permanent at the end of last season and he signed on a two-year deal at the Keepmoat Stadium.

This season, he has made 42 appearances for Doncaster, scoring three times from the penalty spot.

Doncaster, who have a small budget in League One, are sure to have their resolve tested in the summer with Mason having just one-year remaining on his current deal at the club.
