Former Doncaster Rovers midfielder Paul Green made his debut for the Republic of Ireland on Tuesday night against Paraguay.

Green who now plays for fellow Championship side Derby County came on after 69 minutes in the sides 2-1 victory against a Paraguay side that are preparing for this years World cup finals in South Africa.

The 27 year old was an integral part of Rovers rise through the leagues, he scored Rovers first goal in the conference play off final victory against Dagenham and Redbridge in 2003.

He made over 200 appearances during a seven-year stay at Rovers, which culminated in helping the side into the Championship for the first time in fifty years.

He gets a quick chance to add to his caps when Eire face Algeria on Friday night.
