Doncaster Rovers defender George Friend has signed a new contract with the club.

Friend was due to be out of contract in the summer of 2012 but he has signed a new two-year deal keeping him at the Keepmoat until the summer of 2013.

The 23 year old joined Rovers last summer after his release from Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Friend made 35 appearances last season and reverted from his normal left back position to the centre of defence in the second half of last season.
