Former Doncaster Rovers winger Billy Whitehouse is being released by Leeds United just twelve-months after making the move across Yorkshire.

Whitehouse joined Leeds last summer after being placed on the transfer list by Doncaster boss Darren Ferguson.

The Doncaster youth product had made nine appearances for Doncaster before being snapped up by Leeds.

The 20-year-old struggled to break into the Leeds side and his only appearance for the club came when he started the embarrassing defeat at non-league Sutton United in the FA Cup in January.

Whitehouse took to Twitter to announce his departure from Elland Road.

  • Could never understand how we didn’t think he was good enough for us in League Two and he moved to Leeds in the Championship. Think his agent was Willie McKay, who also somehow got his lads signed up by Leeds.
