Doncaster Rovers boss Brian Flynn says they need to enjoy being at the top of League One after finally climbing to the top of the table in midweek.

Rovers, who have missed a number of chances in recent weeks to go top, finally went to the top of League One with a win at Shrewsbury Town on Tuesday night. Rovers won thanks to a winner deep into stoppage time by Kyle Bennett and Flynn believes the players will be full of confidence again having gone five games without a win prior to the win at Shrewsbury.

Speaking on the Doncaster Rovers official website , Flynn said, “It`s the start of something big; we need to enjoy it up there. We need to be enjoying it at the top looking down at the others; it`s the best pace to be.

“I don`t care what anyone says when they (the players) pick that newspaper up Wednesday morning after the dramatic result, they look at it and they will be smiling, and when players have got a smile on their face, certainly in the training ground, they are happy and enjoying their football.

“It is an easy barometer to measure players in terms of confidence because if they smile and enjoy their football they have got every chance.”

Rovers will be desperate to make it back-to-back wins with the top of the League One wide open. Just four points separate seven clubs and a defeat could see them drop to fourth in the table if other results go against them.

Hartlepool United are next up for Rovers at the Keepmoat Stadium on Saturday. The North East side are in great form themselves and they are unbeaten in seven games, winning five.
