Doncaster Rovers boss Darren Ferguson felt the players let down everybody down with their performance in the 3-0 defeat to Walsall.

Doncaster conceded three times in the final half hour of the game as they contributed to gifting all three goals to the visitors with individual mistakes and Ferguson was couldn`t hide his disappointment after the game.

“It is a huge disappointment for everyone,” Ferguson told BBC Radio Sheffield.

“It is a huge disappointment for the fans that turned up today.

“They will be going home very unhappy.

“The players have let everybody down today with that performance.”

Doncaster should have led before capitulating in the final half hour after John Marquis somehow managed to roll the ball wide of the goal with the goal at his mercy right on half time.

It was to prove a costly miss as Doncaster gifted Walsall the three points. Joe Wright made the first mistake for the opening goal as Tyler Roberts robbed him of the ball as he tried to shepherd the ball out for a goal kick. Roberts then found Erhun Oztumer, who had the simple task of picking his spot. Oztumer doubled the lead four minutes later when he was once again found in space after a slip by Doncaster defender Harry Toffolo in the centre of the pitch. Oztumer once again had time to pick his spot for his second goal.

With ten minutes remaining, a sloppy pass by Rodney Kongolo was pounced on by Walsall and Kieron Morris was found in space to stroke home a third for the visitors, who have now won on all five of their visits to the Keepmoat Stadium.
