Doncaster Rovers boss Darren Ferguson felt it was an important win as they came away from Bury with all three points.
Doncaster won the game thanks to a late goal from substitute Ben Whiteman ensured Doncaster claimed the three points against a Bury side that played the second half with ten-men after Eoghan O`Connell was sent off for the hosts on the stroke of half time.
It was a big win for Doncaster, who bounced back from their disappointing defeat by Walsall last weekend and Ferguson was happy with the reaction of his players.
‘It was an important victory,’ Ferguson told BBC Radio Sheffield.
‘It was important we got a reaction from last week.
‘It’s been a long week. It felt like a long week.
‘Everyone got the reaction from the players and it was a thoroughly deserved victory.
‘Against ten men it can be difficult and the longer the game goes, their fans started getting up a little bit.
‘It’s not easy but we just needed a bit of quality and Ben (Whiteman) has produced it.
‘It was thoroughly deserved.
‘It’s a really good reaction from the players after last week.
‘We needed it. We got a clean sheet and it’s a good win.’
The win lifts Doncaster up to 17th in the League One table but they are still just three points above the relegation zone despite winning three of their five games in the league in October.
