Darren Ferguson was delighted to gain a late point at Peterborough United and end a really good Christmas period.

Ben Whiteman scored a 93rd minute equaliser to earn Doncaster a point and finish the busy festive period unbeaten with three wins and a draw to lift them away from the relegation places and Ferguson feels it has kick started their season.

‘We’re not getting overexcited by the fact that we are 94 minutes in and you get a point but you take it obviously,’ Ferguson told BBC Radio Sheffield

‘I’m just pleased with the performance. It was really good.

‘It was a real end to end game, quite open but I didn’t mind that because I thought if we were good on the ball then we’d cause them problems.

‘Great character from my players again.

‘We’ve had a really good Christmas with ten points out of twelve from some tough games.

“Mentally the players have been very good.

“I have been delighted with them over the Christmas period to take ten points from a possible twelve it has kick started our season and we must now take it into the New Year.

“It was important we didn`t lose our momentum that we have gathered.”

Doncaster face Rochdale in the FA Cup next at the Keepmoat Stadium before returning to League One action the following weekend with a home game against Plymouth Argyle.
