Doncaster Rovers boss Darren Ferguson says Everton midfielder Conor Grant is unlikely to return to the Keepmoat this season.

The young midfielder impressed during his loan spell at Doncaster last season and he made 22 appearances before injury forced his early return to Goodison Park in March.

Grant has signed a new deal at Everton this summer and Ferguson says he expects the youngster will be looking to impress his new boss Ronald Koeman.

“He`ll be part of Everton`s plans,” Ferguson told The Star.

“I know they`ve changed manager but certainly that was the hope for him.

“If he goes out on loan it`ll probably be to the Championship.”

Doncaster have so far brought in eight players this summer and Ferguson indicated recently that his only other ventures into the transfer market this summer are likely to be through the loan window with players now only allowed to me between clubs on half or full season loans. One player who has been linked with a return to the club on loan is Keshi Anderson, who impressed in the first half of last season before he broke his leg and had to return to parent club Crystal Palace.
