Doncaster Rovers defender Andy Butler admitted it was an easy decision to sign a new deal with the club.

The 34-year-old, who would have been out of contract this summer, has signed a new deal keeping him at the Keepmoat Stadium until the summer of 2019.

Butler has been a regular in the Doncaster side since joining the club, initially on loan from Sheffield United in October 2014.

The defender, who has captained the club, couldn`t wait to extend his deal with his hometown club.

‘I`m delighted to sign up again,” Butler told the Doncaster Rovers official website.

“It`s my hometown team and as soon as they offered it me, it was an easy yes, then it was just about getting all the paperwork signed and it was a done deal.”

Butler has made 166 appearances for Doncaster since making his debut in October 2014.
