Doncaster Rovers boss Darren Ferguson could welcome James Coppinger and Matty Blair back into his squad for the clash with Northampton Town.

Coppinger was left out of the squad at Bristol Rovers on Saturday despite recently recovering from injury, as Ferguson decided to rest the veteran midfielder ahead of the busy festive period.

Blair will be assessed ahead of the game having recently returned to training.

Ross Etheridge, Danny Andrew, Luke McCullough, Alex Kiwomya and Andy Williams all remain on the sidelines for Doncaster with long-term injuries.

David Cornell will hope to retain his place in goal for Northampton Town after he saved a late penalty in the 1-1 draw with Blackburn Rovers on Saturday as he deputised for the injured Matt Ingram.

Aaron Pierre is expected to miss out after suffering an injury against Blackburn.

Matt Crooks will complete his suspension for Northampton.

Daniel Powell remains sidelined through injury.
