Dean Whitehouse will be the man in charge of the season opener between Doncaster Rovers and Gillingham.

The Northamptonshire official took charge of 43 games last season showing 119 yellow cards and 3 reds.

Whitehouse was in charge of Doncaster on two occasions last season.

He was in charge of the 4-2 defeat at Blackpool and when they clinched promotion with their 1-0 win against Mansfield Town at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Whitehouse was in charge of Gillingham on three occasions. It will be the second season in a row that he has taken charge of Gillingham on the opening day having taken charge of their 3-1 win at Southend United last August. He was also in charge of their 2-1 home win against Southend. Whitehouse also took charge of their 1-0 defeat at Oldham Athletic.
