Doncaster Rovers striker El Hadji Diouf has compared the Scottish Premier League to Sunday morning football without Glasgow Rangers and Celtic.
Diouf was interviewed on the BBC Late Kick off show and he said the championship is a much better level of football.
Speaking on the show, Diouf said, “I do think the championship is a better level than the Scottish league. It is a much better level. After Celtic and Rangers, where are you going to play? Most of the games are like Sunday morning league.”
The twice-former African footballer of the year spent the second half of last season on loan with Glasgow Rangers after joining them on transfer deadline day.
He made twenty-two appearances for Rangers last season, helping them to lift the Scottish League cup against Celtic and pip their near neighbours to the Scottish championship.
Parent club Blackburn Rovers released Diouf in August and he joined Doncaster on a short-term deal at the end of October.
He has made ten appearances for Doncaster since signing and he has recently extended his contract until the end of the season despite interest from a number of clubs.
