Doncaster Rovers boss Paul Dickov believes the way they started the game was key to their crucial win against Charlton Athletic on Tuesday night.
Rovers made it seven points from a possible nine with a 3-0 win against their fellow relegation strugglers.
Speaking to BBC Radio Sheffield, Dickov said, “The key to the game was the way we started. We were on the front foot, we pressed them high up the pitch and we put them under some severe pressure.”
Rovers never looked back after taking a 26th minute lead when Abdoulaye Meite was on hand to score from close range.
Charlton were reduced to ten-men in the first half when Lawrie Wilson was shown a straight red card for a foul on Billy Sharp inside the penalty area with Chris Brown doubling Rovers advantage from the spot.
Mark Duffy capped a fine evening for Rovers when he fired home after breaking through the Charlton defence.
It was a good night for Rovers as they were the only team in the bottom ten to win and they have now moved four points above the relegation places.
