Doncaster Rovers boss Paul Dickov was disappointed with the sides first half performance in the 4-2 win at Retford United on Saturday.
Rovers trailed to the non-league side at half time and Dickov felt in the first half that the side were sloppy in all aspects of the game.
Speaking on the official website , Dickov said, “Performance wise it was pretty poor; the player know that.
“First half especially we were sloppy with and without the ball; we gave away a sloppy goal and went 1-0 down.
“Second half we were better, we moved the ball around with a bit of purpose and got stuck in.
“Since Tuesday night they have took a bit of a battering in training and maybe they were a little bit leggy today but that is what we want. We want them to be able to go out there and handle the ball when they are tired.
“It`s about setting standards individually and as a team; we need to set them standards high and we need to keep to them.”
Dickov once again included a number of trialists. Sanchez Payne and Danny Philliskirk, who featured in midweek once again got 45 minutes. There were five more trialists involved, including Jean Yves M`Voto and Dean Furman.
Rovers turned the game around in the second half with experienced striker Chris Brown scoring a hat trick. Brown, who netted eleven times last season has now netted five times in two pre-season games.
David Syers was also on target for Rovers on a warm afternoon at Retford`s Cannon Park ground.
