Doncaster Rovers boss Paul Dickov was delighted with a fantastic start to the season at Yeovil Town on Saturday.

Rovers started the season at Yeovil, against a side that also fell from the championship last season but Rovers started the stronger, eventually cruising to a 3-0 win.

Speaking to BBC Radio Sheffield, Dickov said, ‘To come away from home, to a tough place and score three good goals is a fantastic start for us.

‘It’s a great start, I have to give a lot of credit to the supporters down here today and to the players. The group that started the game has only had about ten days today. To put on a performance like that is very pleasing.

‘I’m really pleased with the clean sheet. The more this group plays, the better they will get.

‘Considering a lot of the players haven’t had a full pre-season I thought the fitness levels were fantastic.’

Rovers started strongly and it was new signing Curtis Main who put Rovers ahead inside ten minutes when he lobbed the ball over the advancing Chris Weale in the Yeovil goal.

Harry Forrester doubled the Rovers lead halfway through the second half when he beat Weale to the ball before chipping the ball over the defenders rushing back to guard the Yeovil goal.

Theo Robinson put the icing on the cake deep into stoppage time for Rovers as Weale was chipped once again.
