Doncaster Rovers midfielder James Coppinger says he would welcome a move to championship club Ipswich Town this summer.
Ipswich boss Paul Jewell targeted Coppinger last summer in a deal that also involved teammate Billy Sharp going to Ipswich.
Rovers were believed to have been offered a combined total of £2.8 million for Sharp and Coppinger, with the Coppinger part of the deal totalling £300,000.
Rovers turned down the two offers for Coppinger and Sharp and the club quickly moved to offer him a new deal to extend his contract by a further year until 2014.
With Rovers relegated to League One and Rovers most probably looking to reduce their wage bill by moving on some of their biggest earners, Coppinger
Speaking in the East Anglian Times , Coppinger said, “I think Ipswich is a great club. I have some friends who have played at Ipswich in the past and they speak highly of the club and the place.
“With them being in the Championship and an ambitious club, it is always somewhere you would look to go.
“At this stage in my career and life, it wouldn`t put me off moving to Suffolk.
“You just want to play at the highest standard you can for as long as you can.”
The 31 year old is already the longest serving current player at the club having signed from Exeter City in 2004; he has been an integral part of the side that rose from League One and become a respected side in the Championship for four seasons before their relegation this season.
Coppinger has made almost 350 appearances since arriving at Doncaster and will always be best remembered for his fantastic hat trick against Southend United in the Play Off semi-final second leg in 2008.
