On loan Chelsea midfielder Jordan Houghton says he is happy to get a deal done early after extending his loan at Doncaster Rovers.
Houghton will remain at the Keepmoat Stadium for the remainder of the season having spent the first half of the season on loan with the club.
The 22-year-old, who spent last season on loan with the club from Stamford Bridge, has turned down a permanent deal at Doncaster but he says the most important thing at this time was sorting out a deal to suit everyone.
“They have been really good in terms of tracking my progress here, they knew I wanted to stay so have done everything they can to make it happen,” Houghton told the Doncaster Rovers official website.
“The main thing for me was getting it done nice and early in this window as I wanted to get prepared for a big game in the FA Cup.
“There have been talks over the past few weeks and that gradually built up to getting it across the line and agreeing on a deal which suited everyone.”
Houghton has made 22 appearances for Doncaster this season having recovered from the knee injury that cut short his loan spell last season.
The midfielder made 36 appearances for Doncaster last season before suffering a serious knee injury against Luton Town in February. Doncaster monitored his recovery over the summer and they were quick to bring him back to the Keepmoat in August.
Despite turning down a permanent deal with Doncaster at this time after the two clubs had agreed a deal, Houghton is out of contract in the summer and a deal could still happen to bring him to the Keepmoat on a permanent basis.
