Darren Byfield has rejoined Doncaster Rovers after his loan period with Oldham Athletic ended today.

The striker was due to play in Oldham`s home game with Hartlepool United today but it was another fixture to fall to the big freeze.

The 32 year old has shown a desire to stay with the league one club who are currently in the play off positions, however Oldham have strengthened their strike force already in the transfer window with veteran striker Dean Windass joining the Latics for the rest of the season.

Byfield who joined from Bristol City in the summer made eight appearances for Oldham scoring one goal during his loan.

Rovers have shown an interest in Oldham Athletic striker Lee Hughes in recent weeks and with Rovers not wanting to pay the £400,000 Oldham are asking for Hughes, Byfield may be used in the deal to bring Oldham`s leading goalscorer to the Keepmoat.
