Doncaster`s fight against relegation has been dealt a severe blow with the news that Steve Brooker has torn his calf muscle in training and has returned to Bristol City.

Brooker who has just signed on loan to hopefully help out with Rovers lack of goals was an instant hit on his debut on Saturday.

The 27 year old came on as a second half substitute and scored within six minutes of being on the field.

Rovers have only scored nine goals this season and it`s a terrible blow to the club who now can`t bring in a replacement striker until the January transfer window re opens.

The two clubs were working out a deal for Brooker to sign full time in January but these will have to be put on hold until the full extent of the injury are known.

Doncaster are also being rumoured to be interested in signing Oldham Athletic forward Lee Hughes during the January transfer window.
