Steve Brooker put two and a half years of injury nightmare behind him with a superb strike to give Rovers the lead against Leicester on Saturday.
The forward opened the scoring at the Keepmoat with a superb 25-yard strike that he admitted was one of his best ever.
Speaking on the official website , Brooker said, “I was ready for that, but on a personal note I wanted to go off on a high.
“It was great to see it fly into the top and give us that cushion that we needed today. I don`t think I`ve scored many better to be honest.”
His goal gave Rovers the lead and helped secure a point in a 1-1 draw with Leicester that preserved the clubs place in the Championship.
It was only Brooker`s second goal for the club after he scored his first goal for Rovers as a second half substitute against Watford in November 2008, after initially signing on loan.
Unfortunately, an injury in training the following week forced his early return to Ashton Gate.
The forward signed from Bristol City in January 2009, but he has rarely featured since after suffering a number of injury lay offs.
