Doncaster Rovers midfielder Giles Barnes says the side must stop throwing away leads after dropping points for the second Saturday in a row from winning positions.

Barnes netted his first goal for the club to give them a first half lead against Peterborough United on Saturday but they had to settle for a point when Peterborough substitute Tyrone Barnett netted an equaliser in the 93rd minute.

The goal came as a cruel blow as Rovers had chances to clinch the three points with Kyle Bennett going close and John Oster wasting a great chance late in the game.

The draw with Peterborough came on the back of throwing away a 2-0 goal lead at Leeds United the previous weekend, where they eventually lost 3-2 to a 99th minute winner.

Speaking on the Doncaster Rovers official website, Barnes said, “We need to be more resilient in the upcoming games. We can`t give away leads, it happened last weekend after we went 2-0 up and it has happened again this week. I am sure we will learn from our mistakes and it won`t happen again.

The draw at the weekend leaves Rovers six points from safety at the foot of the championship and they now face a busy March with nine games scheduled to be played.

Rovers are in home action against one of the form sides in the championship Brighton next Saturday, before a crucial game at Nottingham Forest the following week.

They have a very difficult run of fixtures in March with games against four of the current top five in the division.
