The League One play-off final saw Yorkshire rivals Doncaster Rovers and Leeds United pitted against each other, and it was Doncaster that came out victorious after a 1-0 win at Wembley in front of 75,000 fans.

Doncaster put the Leeds goal under quite a lot of pressure and were finally able to beat Casper Ankergren through James Hayter’s (47) header from a corner early in the second half. Leeds battled but rarely threatened former Leeds ‘keeper Neil Sullivan.

Doncaster will now take their place in the Championship next season, meaning they will play in the second tier of English football for the first time in 50 years.
