Doncaster Rovers won for the first time this season with a 2-0 home win over Fleetwood Town.

Having drawn three and lost one of their first four league games this season, Doncaster came into the game against a Fleetwood side that had scored eight goals in their last two games.

Doncaster were also down to the bare bones through injury and they had played 120 minutes against Ipswich Town as they bowed out of the League Cup in midweek.

Not many would have fancied Doncaster to claim a first three points of the season but they never looked back once veteran midfielder James Coppinger gave them the lead on 17 minutes.

Coppinger, who is moving ever closer to becoming the club record appearance maker, glanced home an header on 17 minutes to ease the tension around the Keepmoat.

Curtis Main doubled the lead seven minutes later when he was on hand to slot home after a sweeping move involving Coppinger and Andy Williams.

Doncaster keeper Thorsten Stuckmann ensured there were no late nerves with good saves to deny Antoni Sarcevic and Declan Murphy as they ensured a first win of the season.
