Rovers kick off the season with a trip north

Carlisle Team News:

Following manager Paul Simpson’s departure, Carlisle fans will be eager to see how their team fits in to League One under new managment.

Promoted teams tend to do well, having been in the habit of winning, but the change at the helm may have unsteadied them. Manager Neil McDonald has no major injury problems ahead of the game.

Player to watch: Michael Bridges

For the second year running Bridges faces Rovers on the opening day of the season, after playing for Bristol last time round. He failed to get on the score sheet in that game, and will have to be more impressive if he is to break through the Rovers defence.

Doncaster Team News:

Dave Penney may have to hand youth goal keeper Lee Cockerham a place on the bench following Andy Warrington’s injury last weekend. Adam Lockwood and James O’Connor hope to be fit after picking up knocks in pre-season.

Player to watch: Paul Heffernan

If fit, Heffernan can get Rovers 20 + goals this season. Paul missed the start of pre-season but should be ready to face Carlisle.
