Doncaster Rovers booked their place in the next round of the Checkatrade Trophy with a 1-0 win against Sunderland at the Keepmoat Stadium.
Issam Ben Khemis scored his first goal for the club since joining in the summer as a much-changed Doncaster side beat the Sunderland under-21s who included Jack Rodwell.
Andy Williams and Liam Mandeville had the best chances for Doncaster to open the scoring in the first half.
Williams fired wide of the target after getting in behind the Sunderland defence and Mandeville saw his effort come back off the woodwork.
Ethan Robson had a great chance to open the scoring for Sunderland early in the second half but he failed to hit the target after getting in behind the Doncaster defence.
Ben Khemis won the game for Doncaster with just 20 minutes remaining when he curled home his effort after pouncing on a Sunderland mistake.
Doncaster had chances to extend their lead with James Morris twice going close, forcing Sunderland keeper Mika into good saves.
Luke Molyneux had a late chance for Sunderland but his weak header was easy for Marko Marosi.
