Doncaster Rovers lost their first game of the season as a Craig Bellamy inspired Cardiff City scored four goals without reply.

Rovers handed a first start to Wayne Thomas who replaced the injured Shelton Martis whilst Mark Wilson who had been out since pre season returned with a place on the bench.

Cardiff has gone Craig Bellamy mad since his arrival on loan from Manchester City this week and a full house in the home end was there to witness his debut.

Jay Bothroyd threatened to steel Bellamy`s limelight with two goals either side of half time and Chris Burke added a third halfway through the second half.

Craig Bellamy was to make sure that he marked his debut with a goal, when his free kick from 35 yards out beat Neil Sullivan in the Rovers goal with just six minutes remaining.

It always looked a very difficult fixture for Rovers after the arrival of Bellamy this week, James Coppinger came closest for Rovers when his header came back off the bar but it was always likely to be Cardiff`s and especially Bellamy`s day.
