Doncaster Rovers continue to struggle at the wrong end of the championship after losing at Watford.

Marvin Sordell scored twice and goals from John Eustace and Michael Kightly earned the home side a 4-1 win.

Billy Sharp scored for Rovers to make it 1-1 just after half time but the game changed when Herold Goulon was shown a red card for Rovers.

Sordell gave Watford the lead close to half time when he was allowed time and space to fire home from the edge of the area.

Rovers were level within two minutes of the restart when Billy Sharp got ahead of the defender to head past Scott Loach after a good ball into the middle by El Hadji Diouf.

Herold Goulon was dismissed for Rovers just past the hour when he received his second yellow card of the afternoon for a foul on Michael Kightly.

Watford restored their lead soon afterwards when Sordell netted his second of the afternoon.

Mark Yeates ball into the middle was met by the head of Sordell who gave Gary Woods no chance.

Substitute John Eustace wrapped up the points for Watford with a fierce drive with six minutes remaining.

There was still time for Michael Kightly to add a fourth in stoppage time as Rovers go into 2012 facing a fight to maintain their championship place.
